All my favorite establishments were either overly crowded or pathetically empty. People either sipped fine vintages in celebration or gulped intoxicants of who cares what kind, drowning themselves in a lack of moderation, raising a glass to lower inhibitions, imbibing spirits to raise their own.

About This Quote

When I was a teenager, I liked to go out to bars and clubs. One of my favorite places to go was a club called The Cruisin’ Cruisers. At this club, you went in and were immediately hit with a smell of alcohol that made you want to drink. I remember when I was there, they had a drink called the “Cherry Bomb” which was a shot of whiskey with a cherry in it.

It tasted really good and was very sweet. As an 18 year old, I thought this place was great. However, by the time I got there, they were usually so crowded and loud it was hard to even hear the DJ playing the music! One night when we went out there, we had two people in our car and we were all dancing and having fun until we realized we couldn’t hear anything over the noise of everyone talking and laughing! The people who go to such bars do so because they want to get drunk and let loose.

They don’t care if they can barely hear or even see what they are doing because they are there for one reason: to have fun. They are not looking for fine wine or gourmet food; they do not want to sit around and talk about their feelings for days on end; and most certainly do not want to be treated like royalty! They simply want to forget their problems and experience what it is like not to be themselves!
